Build It and They Will Come; What about Marketing?

 

Have you ever heard the saying; Build it and they will come? Sure you have and we all have, but is this a good marketing strategy? Well have you ever heard the saying; Location, location, location? Sure you have, but will that guarantee success?

Interesting business theories arent they and one would suppose if you put the right business on the right corner in the perfect city that indeed it ought to work. Well that is providing that you do a good job in customer service and can continue your word of mouth advertising. Some people and even self-proclaimed worthless marketing consultants say that this is pure fantasyland and that you must do more marketing.

Indeed they would say that wouldnt they so that you buy their consulting services or their marketing books and tapes if they sell those too. Of course what would they know about; Build it and they will come business principles as they have never built out a location anyway. And if they are marketing books and tapes about marketing they do not want you to consider; Word of Mouth, as that might dilute their message to you to buy more books and tapes about how to better market your business right?

The truth is whatever you hear from marketing consultants; if you hear them blast; Build it and they will come; location, location, location or word of mouth advertising then do not give them one red cent or buy any of their books or marketing tapes. Run dont walk away as fast as you can. Consider all this in 2006.
