Leadership Pointers: The Quick 5

For the busy the busy professional being the best leader you can be is an ongoing affair. Here are 5 quick pointers to help you along your way.

1. Resist the temptation to internalize the experience. You are separate from the circumstance which befalls you. Professional, achievers and strivers must realize and understand this fact. To truly understand the division between experience and self enables one to resist the urge to give up hope and abandon ship.

2. A leader who is too understanding and accepting allows for the development of chaos and mediocrity. Sometimes the most appropriate expression of love and acceptance is swift discipline. Acceptance is not a virtue in all circumstances. Confronting inappropriate behaviors directly is often the greatest expression of love.

3. Do not fear the desert of separation. This often proves to be a ground of contemplation and transformation. Separate from the things which cause negative addictions, whether they are emotional, physical or otherwise. A leader should brace for the reversal of fortune, and the scorn of the once faithful. What leads to this manifestation of change? Never should the steps of subjugation be retread, in search of comfort. The precession of progress shall forever march on.

4. Good leadership and effective roles are the foundation of victory; these two qualities should never be underestimated. Set performance expectations early and strive to enable your people to reach them.

5. The path of persistence must be tread with a faithful heart and a patient spirit. Endure the tumultuous waves as the reed endures the tide of the tempest. All things are revealed in their due time. The soul of the struggle is to be embraced. The essence of the moment is to be cherished. Do not surrender the pleasures of your art to anxiety and worry. Ride the wave of experience. Seek release in the moment.
